Quick answerStickapp is a media-only keyboard built to send stickers, not to read what you write. It does not read, store or analyse the content of your messages, and it does not access your contact list. Context-aware reading of text or conversations is prohibited by design: Stickapp records sticker and rewards events, never the surrounding chat.
Does Stickapp read your messages?
No. Stickapp does not collect, read, store or analyse the content of your messages or private conversations, and it never accesses or uploads your phone's contact list. The app records the events needed to run rewards, namely which sticker was shared, not what was said around it. Your choice to share a sticker does not give Stickapp access to your correspondence.
How do keyboard apps work, and why does that matter?
On both iOS and Android, a keyboard is an "input method editor" (IME): a separate app that your phone lets you switch to in any text field. When you pick a keyboard, the operating system routes your taps through it, and the keyboard hands text or media back to the app you are using. That is why Stickapp works in WhatsApp, Telegram, iMessage, Messenger and Instagram DMs without any integration with those apps.
Being honest about the technology builds trust: any keyboard sits at the input layer, so what a keyboard does with that position depends on how it is designed and what it is allowed to do. That is why Stickapp treats privacy as a product rule, not a marketing line:
- Media-only purpose. Stickapp is designed to browse stickers and insert them into a chat. It has no feature that depends on understanding what you type or receive.
- No context-aware text reading. Reading or interpreting conversation text to target offers or personalise stickers is explicitly prohibited.
- Events, not content. The system logs a sticker share as an event for points and reporting; the surrounding message never enters that record.
Messaging apps with end-to-end encryption protect messages in transit between devices. A keyboard operates before that step, which is precisely why the rule that a keyboard must not read text is so important, and why we state it publicly.
What data does Stickapp collect, and what doesn't it collect?
| Stickapp collects | Stickapp does not collect |
|---|---|
| Account details you provide (such as name, email, country, age range) | The content of your messages or conversations |
| Sticker and rewards activity: stickers shared, engagement events, points, tier, offers claimed | Your contact list |
| Eligible purchases or conversions, and cashback records | Text you type in other apps |
| Basic device and log data needed to run and secure the service | Personal data to sell: Stickapp does not sell personal data |
| Payment-method details only when you request a cashback claim | Surrounding chat context around a shared sticker |
Partners see campaign performance, such as impressions, click-throughs and conversions, and Stickapp favours aggregated reporting. Partners do not receive private messages or contact lists.
Is Stickapp GDPR compliant?
Stickapp is based in France and designed around the EU's General Data Protection Regulation. Data is processed for defined purposes (running accounts, calculating points and tiers, paying purchase-based cashback, preventing fraud and meeting legal obligations) on lawful bases such as contract, legitimate interest, consent where required and legal obligation. If data is transferred outside the EEA, an applicable GDPR transfer mechanism is used.
As a member you can request access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability and objection, and withdraw consent at any time, by emailing support@stickapp.io. You may also lodge a complaint with France's data protection authority, the CNIL. The full details are in the Privacy Policy.
How is Stickapp different from social media ad platforms?
Many free platforms fund themselves by profiling users, and some ad systems rely on analysing what people post, search or write to infer interests. Stickapp's business model works the other way around:
- Partners pay for engagement, you choose what to share. Revenue comes from partner campaigns (CPM, CPC and CPA), not from monetising your conversations.
- Voluntary sharing. Members decide which stickers to send and to whom. Nothing is inserted into a chat on your behalf.
- Purchase-based rewards. Cashback is tied to verified purchases, so Stickapp has no need to learn anything about your private discussions to pay you.
Why does Gen Z care about messaging privacy?
Gen Z has grown up with data breaches, targeted ads that feel uncomfortably accurate and constant debates about what apps know. For this generation, private chats are where real social life happens, with friends, family and group threads. Many young people actively block trackers, limit app permissions and prefer products that explain their data practices plainly. A rewards app that asks you to put its keyboard into your most private space has to earn that trust, and a clear promise, published and enforceable, is the minimum.
That is the principle behind Stickapp: the conversation belongs to you and your friends, and the stickers, rewards and cashback sit alongside it, never inside it.
